When it Rains it Pours

The recent floods in Queensland have left many without family members and friends, and many many more with damaged, sludge-filled homes.

The cleanup is well underway with a volunteer turnout so huge that there were too many for organizers to cater for.

On Janulary 13 Loving Hut Brisbane also did its part, teaming up with local members of the Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association to cater 325 meals for flood victims sheltering at a local relief center,

Delicious vegan Spaghetti Bolognese, gluten free noodles and french baguettes were on the menu.

When it rains, it pours.

It’s been reported that the extreme weather fueling the flood waters is an combination of the local effects of La Nina, and the effects of global warming.

Although no one weather event can be directly attributed to climate change, many scientists agree that increasing patterns of extreme weather are global.

Thanks to all volunteers, living up to the spirit of Loving Hut and the humanitarian example of Supreme Master Ching Hai. An extra special note of thanks to Loving Hut regular Chris Jackson who provided transport for the food and volunteers. On ya Chris!
